Safety and Waiver Information

Know Before you go!

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a contact sport that carries increased risk of severe injury if not practiced in a responsible way.  Your training partners are the most valuable asset in your journey to improve your Jiu-Jitsu and must be protected at all times.

"Tapping out" is not negotiable.

If you are in a position where you are stuck and don't know what to do, tap out.  This can be done by tapping your open hand repeatedly ON ANYTHING, be it your partner, the ground, or yourself.  You may also tap your foot, or even just say "Tap" and your partner will immediately stop what they are doing and release you in the safest way possible.

Anyone who does not respect the tap of their partner is not training safely and will not be welcome to continue training.

For the safety of all participants, members are  required to follow the directions and instructions of all instructors  and staff at all times. Any member who practices, demonstrates, or  teaches techniques not expressly approved or authorized by an instructor  AND/OR in a manner deemed to be unsafe or irresponsible will be removed from our program.

Engaging in unapproved or unsafe activities may result in immediate  termination of membership without refund. Additionally, if such actions  result in injury to another person, the offending member may be subject  to civil and/or criminal liability to the fullest extent permitted by  law.

Hygiene Policy

Jiu-Jitsu is a contact sport and comes with the risk of communicable and possibly serious/fatal diseases (Athlete’s foot, Impetigo, Ringworm, Staph, MRSA, etc) therefore proper hygiene is REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES.

· You and your training gear must be clean and free of any foul odors before stepping on the mats.

· No shoes on the mat, no bare feet off the mat.

· Fingernails and toenails must be clean and trimmed.

· Cuts, scrapes, or any other wound must be covered and taped securely.

· Any areas of concern such as rashes, discolored patches, scabbing should be brought to an instructor’s attention and cleared before training.

· Although it can be embarrassing to notify your teammates and training partners of a possible infection it is your responsibility to err on the side of caution for the safety of those around you.

· It is always better to take a night off and be safe rather than injure or infect anyone else.

· DO NOT train if you know you have any type of infection!

Failure to adhere to the hygiene policy is a serious offense and could result in suspension or termination of your membership.
